MERICS – Infographics - Meric

Challenge
How can complex interrelationships of the Chinese economy, technology industry and political system be presented in an understandable and vivid way?
The Mercator Institute for China Studies (MERICS) has successfully taken on this task for many years and also shows its website merics.org the multifaceted topics. Hildebranding supports this communication process with infographics and illustrations, which has resulted in many interesting graphic projects.

Methods
Each graphic project goes through several phases, which are concretized by the following methods:
All important questions are already answered in an initial project call: What is the planned format, what is the general message, who is the target group? With this information we can already estimate an effort and clarify the image idea with first scribbles.
On the basis of the first scribble agreement, we can directly present the graphic statement in a more concrete way, determine the position of its elements in the graphic structure and simulate the desired style. This step therefore already shows how the graphic can look later – without already becoming too concrete, so that change requests are still possible.
Once all the important elements and the desired structure are in place, we can move on to fine-tuning: Using the client's corporate design we create finely polished illustrations and infographics that are ready for publication.
After the graphic is ready, there is one more important step where we take care of everything: exporting the graphic to all the elements that are important for publishing. We deliver our graphic projects clean and traceable, so our clients don't have to worry about format sizes or the latest versions. Ready for publication!
